just a mention. for me, the 2400rpm kept the truck at 2400 all the time during slow speed crawls. never would the truck  run lower than 2400. in town from light to light or alley crawls the truck sounded like it was doing 60mph. a 2400 TQ was fun but I could identify how it wouldn't be for everybody.

also the TQ is the furnace or heat generator for the trans. mine with the stock size cooler was tough to keep under 240 degrees. my 2nd gen was retroed to a 3rd gen giant power wagon trans cooler.

patc tried to up sell me to a 3,000rpm.. whoa!

You got me thinking a trans temp gauge would be a good idea.  I already have a large after market cooler.

I've been running the Viper 2800 with my 408 for a number of years.  It feels like the stock converter until you hit the gas.

More progress!  I'm heading to the bone yard tomorrow to get a 318 flywheel and pulley, I have a friend sending me a neutral balancer that he never used for the 318 pulley for a small price.  Things are finally moving, it nice to have my Brother here for a couple days to help out.

I didn't think you would have extra flexplates and pulleys for a 318.  I couldn't trust a used balancer though, I was lucky to find one very cheap.

The junk yard sold me a 318 flexplate that was bent and a corroded water outlet/neck that still had part of the hose on it for $50.  I returned that junk.

I just purchased from RockAuto a Pioneer Flexplate, AC Delco water neck, Gates Upper and Lower Radiator hose, and Gates 180* T-stat for $78, Shipping and tax included.  Our BionicDodge discount saved $2.92.  I should have done this in the 1st place.  It was a far better deal, I was so close to getting this in that I allowed impatience to get in the way which set me back.

I can't win!  I got the new Pioneer flexplate today "made in mexico" and the metal is thicker on almost half of it where the crank sensor pickups are.  It would barely turn with 40% of hitting the crank sensor.  I couldn't find anyone local with a belt sander so I used my Dremel on it for about 45 minutes, now it turns without contacting the sensor.  I wasn't real happy with rockauto packaging my upper/lower radiator hoses by folding them up and putting them in a small box and see picture below to see how my thermostat arrived in the same box, this wasn't caused by shipping. The thermostat looks ok though.

Ok, I haven't thought about this part of my 408 build but I know I need it for tuning...

The Wideband o2 sensor/gauge/data logging...

Which one is best, Autometer, Innovate, AEM?

I would like to keep using my x2 SCT tuner which doesn't do data-logging, but Innovate has a wideband kit where you can data-log with their software on a pc that is connected to the gauge and then send that file to the guy doing the tune.  Does this sound correct?

Also the main budget build question.....  Will this take the place of my factory o2 sensor and work with the stock PCM or is this a stand alone unit that needs a new o2 bung location?

I also have asked this question! my wide band modual has a aux narrow band out/ just stub wires! in my build I just put in a new port on the exhaust and ran stock o2s as they should. though more I think about it, the new tech should be better- meaning- the aux narrow band signals might be more accurate. I asked glowshift and they had no answers and never herd of such a thing-  DAH
