I just bought a Melling oil pump for a future project on EPay. The asking price was pretty good compared to others selling the same thing.  I know they have to start collecting sales tax, not happy about that, honestly the previous lack of having to pay sales tax on online purchases vs local over the counter has become a huge advantage/ selling point for buying that way. but who and how is the percentage figured? Where I live in Illinois, our county is 6-1/4% except the "county seat" itself that jacked its sales tax rate up an additional 2% for 8-1/4%.  The next county north (still not Chicago) has been 8.some % for some time now. C(r)ook county (where Chicago is) has been hovering around 10% for a few years. I cannot tell you the last time that I bought anything out of Chicago proper whether online or in person. I avoid Chicago like the plague. (for other reasons too)

but when my transaction just completed (seller in Delray beach Florida) EPay stuck me at 10.15% tax... What gives?  $30 item, $18-some shipping plus 10+% gouge (tax) besides? EPay is again less safe than it had been. Any way to gouge the customer-- with their commission fees from the seller and the other BS fees they are now sticking the buyer with...…

I would contest that sale.  The're clearly gouging and using the tax as an excuse.  Ask for a refund of 2% just to prove a point.
