Spotted this surfing autotrader, '03 V10's are the rarest of all.  My understanding is that less than a 1,000 were made.

Doesn't seem like a bad price either.  It is an SLT.  Anybody seen an '03 V10 in person?

W is a V10.  Thumb  A Hemi is a D.

I hate do dig up an old post, but they have quite a few over on autotrader.  I don't know why they think they can get $23k+ for an '03 with 40k miles.  You can buy a diesel for about that.  But if you're fond of the v10 like me, you might buy one.  Just not for $23k.

i have seen one 2003 V10.  it was on a 3500.  the V10 emblem was cool, which is what first caught my eye.  you are right, there were fewer than 1000 of these made, as they were just leftovers from 2002, since the factory making these engines closed down in 2002, and made enough engines for limited duty in these trucks (same with the 5.9L).

Thanks, glad I found this site! I live in the frozen tundra of Minnesota.

BTW, any idea how many V10 Rams were built in a typical year? I'm guessing not that many as they really wanted to sell the more profitable Cummins trucks.

You can contact Dodge and ask them, they'll probably be able to tell you (believe it or not).

dealerships love to push the $4000+ diesel engine.  lots of profit for them.

also, the V10 has the stigma of being an 8 Liter engine, which will use a lot of gas.  from what i've heard, Chevy has had a tough time selling their 8.1L V8, as it's a huge gas hog.

i always loved the V10... it's a great engine.

There's a lot of profit in the diesel to DC, nothing extra for the dealer.  It's the gas hog factor that killed the V10.  That and the fact that the public has been geared to love horsepower (i.e. Hemi) and they don't appreciate torque.

except up north, they need those V10's, as diesels don't work there.
