Gone but not forgotten.... sold the day after Thanksgiving to a young man from Chicago.  Good times and good decision to let it go.

I am in LOVE with the 98 5.9L.  What kind of mileage did you get out of it?

20 if you are luck on HWY and 12-13 in town is the norm.  The PCM likes premium too.  That is what I wanted but now with reg at $3.00/gallon me says "Glad I passed on that..."

5.9 uses an AWD tcase.... if the viscous coupling is bad they are pricy to fix.

I was thinkin' that.  I wonder if you mod them out enough they pick up the MPG.  That isn't too bad for a 5.9L.  I'm hoping to start a new job soon and if the income is right a CRD Liberty looks good.

Zach.. I am soo much on the same page as you.  I want the fuel eff but cannot afford the payment of a Libby since I am in school.

To answer the question... mods help power and the fuel econ if you can resist the power.  Case in point... my friend that purchases my 94 Dak (Overclocker) got 22 MPG on the highway with it.  That was after the MP PCM, headers, side dump muffler and a tuneup.  My best was 19.  He drives slower most of the time but occassionally does "John Force-like" burnouts in the faculty parking lot at the college he works at!  Laughing  Thumb

I knew the 5.2 responded well.  I've also got buddies with heavily modified 340 and 408 that pull 18 mpg highway with well over 400 hp on tap.  Matt Brothers also got 24 mpg on his before he went stroker.  It was the same setup as your 94, RC 2WD but his was dropped.

I'm still in waiting for my lawyer to do some lawyering with my motorcycle wreck.  If I can get all my bills paid off and have a chunk left over, might be a CRD down payment. Thumb
